The C450 has an exhaust system that is left to be desired. As a result a few big players in the exhaust game have started popping up with exhaust systems for the C450. Meisterchaft and the folks over at GTHAUS have thrown their hats into the ring with their latest version of the GTS and GTC Exhausts.
Miesterchaft is the only company at the moment that is providing a valve controlled exhaust system for the C450. The build that we have had undergone two iterations the first was changed as GTHAUS realized that they could change the location of the Y and go with bigger pipes. I have included pics of both below.
The full system includes the mid pipe and axle back. When the valves are closed, the car sounds almost completely stock, however, once you open the valve the car sounds completely different. It's something you have to hear with your own ears. Computer speakers just won't do it justice. The GTC system does an amazing job of transforming the sound of the V6 in the 450 to a more V8 sounding car.
What's it good for
I want to address the elephant in the room. I know there are a few other exhaust systems that are considerably cheaper on the market. In the next few days you will start seeing those reviews on the site as well. The Cost for the system I have the way it is built is $5,646. That's not cheap, but you are getting a lot more than you would with some of the competitors. For starters, this system is Valve controlled, meaning you are able to have the quiet ride that is more pleasing on long drives, but when you want to get loud and rowdy at the push of a button the system will give you just that.
Additionally, if you are planning for a stage 2 ECU flash the pipe dimensions of this exhaust relieves a lot of back pressure in the exhaust. You can't jump straight to stage 2 from here as with all manufactures at the moment we are lacking down pipes which are the final piece of the stage 2 puzzle.
A direct comparison with the other exhausts on the markets is not fair for any company and isn't fair to our viewers. What we should do is look at the use case. If you are looking for just a little extra sound out of your car or are on a tight budget then this product isn't for you. If you have no plans to mod anything else on the car then this isn't for you. But if you are looking for a total transformation in the sound of your car and the ability to completely remove the drone in the car at a push of a button or if your looking to go stage 2 then really this is the best product on the market.
